Sunday Scoop: Kippy's Ice Cream Now Open
Kippy's Ice Cream Shop opened this weekend at Lincoln and Rose.
The makers of the dairy-free, coconut milk-based ice cream brand Truly Raw, which is sold at most Whole Foods stores from San Diego to Santa Barbara, just opened their first ice cream shop in the long-gone Edible Arrangements space.
All of their ice creams and sorbets are made with coconut water/ coconut milk, fresh, never-frozen fruit, and sweetened with raw honey. The ice cream shop opened its doors this Saturday with five flavors in the case (more to come), including chocolate creme, chocolate cappuccino (the coffee was subbed with ramon seed dust), vanilla cappuccino, strawberry coconut, and strawberry lemonade sorbet. Plans are in the works for house-made, gluten-free waffle cones, banana splits and other frozen goodness. Scoops are served in your choice of colorfully hand-painted ceramic bowls with choice of toppings.
Partners Kippy Miller and Max Wolf have been at this same location making Truly Raw ice cream and sorbet for the past two years, but after witnessing the recent boom of local businesses pop up along Rose Ave. and Lincoln Blvd., they decided to convert the front of the house into a sit-in ice cream shop. A grand opening is in the works, but they're open for business every day (except Thursday) from 12pm to 8pm.
