To promote its second season, Netflix's original series "Orange Is The New Black" is doing time in different cities, serving up free fruit pies and "chocolate and vanilla swirl" ice cream cones from its Crazy Pyes food truck, and it's due to hit Abbot Kinney on Sunday, from 2 to 6 p.m.
Crazy Pyes, named after one of Litchfield Penitentiary's most lovable inmates Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren (Uzo Aduba), references her classic line from season one, "I threw my pie for you," as well as her humorous albeit unrequited advances for Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), the vanilla to her chocolate swirl.
The roving commissary-style truck has already served in NYC and is en route to LA this weekend, ending with a stop at The Brig. Some of the show's castmates showed up for Crazy Pyes in Columbus Circle, so when it gets to Venice, we're hoping for a cameo from Venice-local Lori Petty who also makes a brief but brilliant appearance as Lolly in the opening of season two.
