Skip the greasy dollar slices at the Boardwalk this afternoon and head to Abbot Kinney for the best pizza deal in town. We're not talking food trucks either. To celebrate its one-year anniversary, South End, the charming pizza and wine bar tucked into the easy-to-miss mini strip mall at Abbot Kinney and Washington is offering whole pizzas for $1.

The deal is for today only from 4:30 to 11 p.m. And several of the signature gourmet pies are up for grabs. $1 offerings include the 1905, with Heritage pork salciccia, crushed Roma tomatoes, Kalamata olives, fresh mozzarella, red onion and marjoram, and the Gondola, topped with crushed Roma tomatoes, Fresno chilies, Italian white anchovies and marjoram, all of which typically cost between $13-17.

Pizzas will be served on a first come, first served basis and seating is limited at the cozy locale. If you'd like to enjoy your pizzas with a Peroni and charcuterie board, you may be looking at a bit of a wait.

Owner and Associazione Italiana Sommelier Mario Vollera, behind Piccolo, Hostaria del Piccolo and Barbershop Ristorante, named his pizza bar after the stretch of Abbot Kinney south of Venice Blvd. where commercial foot traffic dissipates into more of a relaxed neighborhood vibe. Over the past year, others have brought new concepts to the quiet side of Abbot Kinney as well. Buck Mason, a men's clothing boutique, and M. Steves Beauty Cottage debuted near the popular coffee shop and meeting space Le Zinque earlier this year, and late-night Italian eatery and bar Scopa opened next door to Roy Choi's colorful Caribbean cookshop Sunny Spot.
