Lincoln Place Welcomes New Tenants

A new billboard calls for potential tenants to visit the newly refurbished Lincoln Place garden apartments on Venice's East Side (as in east of Lincoln Blvd., a physical as well as local property value divide). A garden apartment is essentially a low-rise structure with proportional landscape architecture, inspired by the utopian ideals of the early-1900s garden city movement.

One-bedroom apartments are available in June stating at $2400. Pets are welcome and other features include community barbecue area, saltwater pool, fitness center and a rooftop social deck.

After a decade-long preservation battle between the previous owners who wanted to demolish Lincoln Place and erect condominiums, the Tenant Association who fought evictions and physical deterioration, and the Los Angeles Conservancy who found it to be "a significant example of a garden community with modernist design" and nominated it for protection under the National Register of Historic Places, the rehabilitation dust has almost settled. Owners AIMCO expect the remaining units to be completed by the end of 2014.
