Venice Holiday Sign Lighting And Block Party

Now in its fourth year, the young tradition of lighting the Venice sign in red and green is among the most celebrated local holiday festivities—along with the Venice Canals Holiday Boat Parade and the Christmas Run—and the merriment around it continues to grow.

Last year, soon after releasing her album rose aveAlecia Moore—better know by her pop moniker Pink—did the honors of flipping on the Venice sign with her daughter in arm. Treeman made an appearance too, festooned for the occasion in sparkly ornamentation.

No one knows who will do the honors this year until the big event, which takes place Friday, December 4, with a block party and live music starting at 6:15 p.m. and the sign lighting at 8 p.m.

The Venice Whaler, the main sponsor of the event, will be hosting an after party with drink specials and tasty enticements, and nearby bars and restaurants usually have food and drink specials offered for the evening too.

Also be sure to bring an unwrapped toy for the Muscle Beach Toy Drive and the Great Venice Toy Drive. Drop them off at one of the Venice Chamber of Commerce or Venice Neighborhood Council booths.
