Abbot Kinney Pop-Up To Become Seafood Restaurant at Local 1205

Chef Walter el Nagar's Abbot Kinney pop up Barbershop Ristorante will finish its run at the end of November, but el Nagar, who is a Venice local, is setting permanent roots at Local 1205 and turning the back half of the house into a seafood restaurant with a crudo bar and naming it Ostricaro Fisico.

He will begin to offer his new seafood menu this coming Thursday, October 31.

"We will serve whole charcoal grilled fish by the pound, spiny lobster, langoustine, crab and and just one cut of meat, an outstanding grass fed beef from Bill Niman ranch, a porterhouse cut for two people," says el Nagar. "Then we will have a crudo bar with the best of the best of raw fish and crustacean, oyster and other delicacies like fresh sea urchin and live scallops."

Ostricaro Fisico will also serve a small selection of traditional wood-fired pizza from the oven that el Nagar has admired in Local 1205 since he first moved his pop up into the space in early October. The signature will be a lobster pizza.

Price points will be around $30, more accessible than Barbershop's $90 per person tasting menu. A whole branzino will be $22 and crudo bar is $16. (el Nagar promises us a peek at the menu as soon as it is finished.)

As for Local 1205, the coffeehouse and marketplace will carry on as usual during the daytime, but el Nagar will eventually take over the deli and lunch menu. Beer and wine is also on the way and should be available within a month, according to Chef.
