Days grow shorter, but autumn brings so much to look forward to—like a slew of L.A.'s most anticipated new restaurants, several of which will be right here in Venice. Eater rounded up a list of imminent debuts that Angelenos are most excited to see, and while the Arts District is basking in the spotlight, many of 2015's top newcomers will land comfortably west of the 405. Here's what's high on the radar in Venice. 

The Rose

Jason Neroni will come full circle to Rose Ave. where he and former business partner Paul Hibler opened Superba Snack Bar back in 2012. His handmade pastas reignited locals' love affair with wheat, but shortly after assisting with the opening of Superba Food + Bread in 2014, a more ambitious bakery and all-day eatery on Lincoln Blvd., Neroni partnered with Bill Chait and his Sprout L.A. group. They launched seafood spot Catch & Release in Marina del Rey in spring, and all the while have been overhauling The Rose. Working with original owners Kamal Kapur and Manhar Patel to maintain local roots and a creative vibe, plans for the 250-seat restaurant include all-day service, full cocktail program, as well as a deli, coffee bar and bakery.

Charcoal

Washington Blvd.'s hub of pubs received a welcomed addition when Top Chef alum Nyesha Arrington opened Leona in July. Now comes news that chef Josiah Citrin of Santa Monica's seasonal French restaurant Melisse plans to open "a fun, casual spot" in the former Macchi's Bistro, according to Eater. It's tentatively named Charcoal.

Blue Star Donuts

Portland's premium brioche doughnuts are headed for L.A. and will be rolling into the former Elvino space on Abbot Kinney with fancy flavors like blueberry bourbon and Cointreau creme brulee. Blue Star Donuts was due to open this summer, but maybe it's all for the best—those apple brandy fritters will be much more enjoyable with a hot Stumptown coffee or Steve Smith tea when the weathers cools down.

Salt & Straw Venice

Abbot Kinney opens its doors for another big name in Portland's creative culinary scene. Salt & Straw, the seasonally inspired, small batch ice creamery with playful flavor combinations like potato chip cupcake and lemon cucumber sorbet, will open in the former CasaLinda space on California Ave. The Arts District will get one too (of course), but not until December.

Firestone Walker Brewing Company

The Paso Robles-based craft brewery will expand to L.A. with a brewhouse, taproom and restaurant due to open soon near the corner of Lincoln and Washington Blvds. The ambitious project has been taking shape for nearly two years, but in an interview with LA Weekly, David Walker, co-proprietor of Firestone Walker since its inception in 1996, promises it will have been worth the wait: "This isn't just a taproom, but a new leg of the brewery. Up in Paso we refer to this project as 'The Propagator' (yeasty!). It's a place for us to propagate ideas, share brewing theory, create new beers, develop ways to reach non-craft beer drinkers that are living in blissful ignorance."

Pono Burger

Taking over the shuttered Hostaria del Piccolo space on Rose Ave. will come a second location for Santa Monica's Pono Burger, which is kind of already in the neighborhood, right off Lincoln Blvd. and Broadway. Organic beef patties are layered with unique flavors such as smoked cheddar and Kona coffee bourbon BBQ sauce, and housemade shakes use seasonal ingredients and organic ice cream from Straus Family Creamery.

CasaLinda by Primitivo

Abbot Kinney's popular wine and tapas bar Primitivo will close at the end of August. The plan is to partner up with CasaLinda, the Mexican restaurant that shuttered on Abbot Kinney earlier this year, and re-open in the Primitivo space as "CasaLinda by Primitivo" (with a full bar). Interestingly, co-owners Don and Linda Novak and Hal Frederick, also own Hal's Bar & Grill, which is also supposed to be figuring out a new location on Abbot Kinney too.
