In the embers of Burning Man 2015, the Venice Art Crawl hosted its second annual Afterburn block party Thursday night on Rose Avenue featuring music, dancing, live painting and art cars, including one well-known Charlie The Unicorn. It was part of the quarterly crawl, with several other events and pop-up galleries taking place throughout the neighborhood. 

Between 3rd and 4th Streets, which were blocked off from traffic, art cars illuminated the street, and artists set up stations for live painting. Other attractions included games of corn hole and a rocking horse that anyone was welcome to ride. 

Afterburners accessorized in playa-inspired play wear—furry vests, tutus, and in keeping with the theme of the night, plenty of glittered and golden unicorn horns. Treeman never looked more at home, breezing into the party with another fairy-winged friend on stilts and dancing among the costumed crowd. But there were just as many hula hoopers in cut-off denim shorts too, a notable reminder that although this was not Black Rock City, a festival-style event focused on community and artistic expression felt right at home in Venice.
