Picnic In Summer Whites At PopUp Dinner LA
Labor Day has come and gone, but this tropical heat, and PopUp Dinner LA, are two great reasons to carry on in your summer whites.
The annual event, which returns Saturday September 19, is an impromptu dinner under the stars, drawing thousands of Angelenos from all parts of the city who meet up (fashioned in white) with picnic baskets and table decor, ready to mingle. It's like a flash mob, but instead of choreographed moves, everyone shares charcuterie and beverages. No one knows where it will be until ticket holders are emailed a location two hours before the start of the event, which is part of the fun—even in a city where travel arrangements are crucial to weighing out the evening's options.
Guests will meet around 5 p.m. to begin setup. Tables and chairs will be provided, and DJ sets will come courtesy of KCRW's Jason Bentley. Dinner starts at 7 p.m. to be followed by entertainment and dancing. Everyone takes home anything that might be left over, and a few hours after the party, no trace is left behind.
So, what are the chances it'll land on the Westside, you ask? Though the location (and its general vicinity) are top secret, it's worth noting that the event already popped up at the Santa Monica Pier a couple years ago. Maybe it will make a comeback. Maybe not. That's all part of the "spontaneity, splendor and surprise."
PopUp Dinner LA is hosted by Hand Made Events and sponsored by Acura. Tickets for the event are $35 and can be purchased here.
