Motorcycle enthusiasts met up at the sixth annual Venice Vintage Motorcycle Rally on Saturday, September 14, for a rumble up PCH to Malibu and a day filled with good food, live tunes and the Miss Venice Vintage Pinup Contest. 

"It was by far the biggest and best, and I think the reason that it was a little bit bigger was because we had a lot more vendors, but also the fact that it was not 1,000 degrees outside," says event executive producer Brady Walker." 

Thousands of people showed up for the cool morning ride and the rally afterward at Dell Ave. It's a tradition that started with a late-night conversation over drinks at The Stonghold between Walker and Venice Vintage Motorcycle Club (VVMC) founder Shannon Sweeney, the owner of SS Classics Motorcycles. Sweeney wanted to host a motorcycle event in Venice that was open to everyone, and with years of event planning experience, Walker said, "I can do that." After the first rally, Walker joined the VVMC and has been a member ever since.

This year's rally featured live music, barbecue and PBR, bike judging, raffle prizes and the annual pinup contest, hosted by Trim hair salon owner Nik Rae Falco. The party was capped off by raffling a fully-restored 1965 Honda CB160 Racer, built by Sweeney and SS Classics. The charity raffle benefitted the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.

Sometimes they cruise up to Malibu, sometimes down to San Pedro, and at the end of the ride, everyone congregates for Sunday Mass at Deus Ex Machina for barbecue and beer, live music and a shared passion for vintage bikes.
