We may be a little biased over here at the Lincoln & Rose Pop-Up, but we think we’ve got something for just about everyone on your holiday shopping list at our space on the corner of Lincoln Boulevard and Rose Avenue. And while some of it is represented in our online marketplace, much of it is too new to make it to the site and will be available only at the store. Take a peek at what you’re missing if you haven’t been in to our shop. In the process, you’ll get to know some local businesses and artisans who make Venice such an amazing place to live. Gifts of Relaxation

The candle. It’s a gift staple for a reason, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make a statement while giving it. Lincoln & Rose carries EJH Brand natural coconut wax candles, which come in inventive scents such as wisteria lilac and nectarine mint and are hand-poured in Los Angeles. The two sizes—one priced at $32 and the other at $52—fit multiple budgets, and the animal print art that adorns them, by Los Angeles artist and designer Elana Joelle Hendler, elevates them further.

If you’re searching for a low-priced item that delivers a lot of ahhhh for your buck, look to Totem Soap Co. At $6 a soap, the handmade goat’s milk bars are a steal. They come in gentle scents including chamomile, lavender and bergamot, and rose and poppyseed. It’s a perfect gift-topper for anybody who needs some good, clean fun in their lives.

A cup of tea can be a reminder about living in the moment, and goodness knows that’s a helpful hint during the hectic holiday season. Alicia Henry’s line of Naked Sage Tea has appropriately meditative names like Om (organic holy basil is on the ingredients list) and Heart Open, Mind Open (soothing organic chamomile flowers, rose petals and lavender are in the mix) to fix the holiday doldrums. Her company’s tag line is “Make Tea, Not War”—perfect for any hippie at heart. All teas are $18.

Gifts of Art

Art and creativity are a way of life in Venice, and while just about everything in the L&R Pop-Up shop is in one way or another bound around the idea of artistry, there are a few pieces that feel particularly appropriate for the fine art-lover. Those with a more gritty street-art mentality should look to Bisco Smith’s work, which draws on graffiti and graphic art traditions. His subdued photographs of LA, many of them close-ups of industrial settings, go for $80 and are covered in resin and mounted on wood frames.

In the art world, the word “unique” gets thrown around a lot where it had no bearing, but Vanessa Chow’s Tea Bag Warriors, $500 each, are likely unlike anything you’ve ever seen. These otherworldly creatures from the sea are mounted on wooden stands and created using found materials and tea bags. Each has its own personality and look. 

Emerging artist Dennis Miranda Zamorano’s paintings are a recent addition to the shop, and his small portraits run just $60 each. They’re a nice affordable slice of Venice’s artistic spirt, whether you’re buying for a local or just making your friends wish they lived in La La Land.

Gifts for Ladies

Whether it’s girlfriend, wife, mom, sister, grandmother, aunt, best friend, lover, if she’s a lady, she’s gonna like one of these gifts. We promise. First up is jewelry by Venice’s muses & rebels. L&R has a variety of necklaces and bracelets by the boho brand incorporating metals, much of it copper or rose gold in color, with braided or knotted rope and string. It’s not fancy jewelry, but it is eye-catching, especially the bracelets incorporating neon colors. They range in price from $49 to $79.

If the fanny pack ever makes a complete comeback, it will be due to these bags, which are quite possibly the chicest waist wallets ever created. They’re made from vintage silk scarves, dressed up with sparkly broaches, and manipulated in shape just enough to hold keys, a wallet and a lipstick in a zipper compartment. Whether your giftee will actually be vacationing in Ibiza and needs a place for her room key or she just wants to be, these $108 beauties will do the trick.

Slightly more rugged in style, but no less stylish than the fanny packs are FEL bags, which come in cross-body, clutch and mini sizes at $50 to $136. The sturdy bags utilize vintage textiles and leather for a look that’s southern Californian to the core. It’s easy to imagine these jumping the generations—with a preteen stealing one out of her grandmother’s closet and vice-versa.

Gifts for Gents

Soap on a rope and after-shave need not make an appearance this year. For the dressed-up man who likes to accessorize, might we suggest the $40 handkerchief from Late Sunday Afternoon? The up-cycled patterns range from buttoned-up to party-down, and if your man would prefer a neckerchief, scarf or wrap, those are available too.

Move over leather, wood is making its name in an unlikely place: a man’s front pocket. A wallet no longer has to be big and bulky. That’s the attitude of the husband and wife team behind Ansel & Adelaide. Their Woodman Wallet uses reclaimed wood with an interesting story for its base. "The Coney Island," for example, is made of ipe that's actually from the Coney Island boardwalk, and the set of interchangeable rubber bands that they come with are made in the USA. All for a cool $34 or $44.

Some men are hard to shop for … might this difficult man also be into Hawaiian shirts and relaxing on the couch? If so, then these pillows made from vintage Hawaiian shirts are your answer to prayers. They are cut so the pocket remains—what he decides to put in it (a remote? snacks? an iPhone?) is up to him. Pillows with a case are $30, and the case alone is $15.

Gifts for Foodies

Who among us doesn’t have a foodie or two on their “nice list”? If you’re looking to go high-end without breaking the bank, try the Italian Black Truffle Sea Salt from Gustus Vitae Condiments for $20. Or, opt for several of the non-truffle blends. Each—like the California and Roseamary Sea Salt—are just $8 and come in a tin with a magnetic base.

Simply from Earth’s granola is true to its name. Fifteen bucks gets you a Mason jar filled to the brim with yummy granola goodies—everything from chia seeds to candied orange rinds makes an appearance in the hearty mixes that work equally well as a morning pick-me-up or an afternoon snack.

Few can resist the allure of hot chocolate, caramels or caramel popcorn. Even fewer can decline when said goodies are tucked into a charming and stylish (if we do say so ourselves) L&R ceramic mug. The goodies are by Rose Avenue Sweets and range from $3 for the caramel popcorn to $6.50 for the hot chocolate. Buy a mug, regularly $18, and get the mug for just $15. Stylish and tasty!

Gifts for the Venice Lover

Who are we kidding, everything at L&R is for the Venice-loving freak in all of us, but there are a few gifts that really say "Venice." First up are the Lincoln & Rose sleeveless T-shirts. How better to show your love of the neighborhood than by wearing it on your chest? At $25 a shirt or $15 for a bag, it’s a great stuffer. 

To send your love of the Westside far and away, opt for the pack of postcards of idyllic Venice scenes. At $35, the cards highlight iconic Venice landmarks in their best lighting. Whether you give them away as a group or send individual ones to people you love, it’s a neighborhood solid all the way. 

Finally, it’s not Venice if it’s not a little bit kooky. Enter Hooked Hands crocheted rendition of “The Dude” from The Big Lebowski. He’s a real dude, if you didn’t know, and he lives in the neighborhood. And you can have him sit on your couch and watch Cohen brothers movies to your heart’s content for $45. The dude abides. You’ve shopped on Abbot Kinney, but have you heard of Abbott-Kitty? It’s the newest sensation hitting the pet toy market. Just $8 nets you a stylish sack of organic (of course) catnip that your kitty will flip for. 

Truth: Tiny shoes are just about the cutest thing ever. Neon Rae takes that axiom to the next level with its line of children’s moccasins in an array of stylish colors and prints. Cloth shoes with leather soles are $45 and the all-suede versions are $60.

Hippo Works sells children’s clothing while also selling the idea of eco-consciousness. Purchase something from the red hippo-festooned line and a donation is made to help save 1,000 square feet of jungle, and that’s just the beginning of the company’s commitment to the Earth. Gifts for the Host/Hostess With The Mostess

Fresh-cut herbs, mason jars of hydroponic, living rainbow chard, or bundles of dried sage and wormwood are pleasantly unexpected gifts to greet your holiday hosts for $5 to $10. And these are not your farmers' market variety.
