The second annual Z-Flex Jay Boy Classic returns to the Venice Skate Park, Saturday May 23 with skaters from across the country gunning for $5,000 in cash and prizes.
Last year's competition brought competitors from as far away as the U.K. The day starts out with the Amateur Bowl Jam, followed by the Masters Jam and then an amateur awards presentation.
The competition was started by legendary Venice skateboarder Jay Adams, original member of the Z-Boys team who elevated the sport to popular culture in the '70s and founded Z-Flex skate company. Only a few moths after his inaugural competition in April 2014, Adams died while on a surf trip in Mexico. There was a paddle out at the Venice Pier in celebration of his memory.
