There may be sunshine and palm trees, but a slice of Venice will become a winter wonderland with real snow and a visit from Santa on Saturday, December 4 at the annual Abbot Kinney Stroll.

Peruse in-store events as Christmas carolers harmonize up and down the block. In addition to sledding, there's plenty of activities for the little ones too, including face painting and crafts.

Abbot Kinney womenswear boutique Negarin London is hosting an evening of art and music. Pat Conlon will be showing his new installation 'Beach Archeology' with an acoustic session by singer Emmett Skyy.

The 31st annual Abbot Kinney Festival returns September 27 with a mile-long stretch of vendors, live entertainment and dozens of food trucks. Free and open to all ages, the one-day event features plenty of play areas for kids and adults. There will be three beer gardens as well as the KidsQuad area designated for games, rides, music and art.

Get your bibs and beers ready for Memorial Day weekend. 700 pounds of tasty crawfish will be served up at the annual Abbot Kinney Crawfest taking place Sunday, May 24th at The Brig's outdoor parking lot.

They're doing it up the traditional way, and if you've never been to a crawfish boil, it goes a little something like this: thousands of crawfish along with a mighty heap of spicy Andouille sausage and seasoning get steamed up in a pot, then poured out onto the table where you dig in with your hands, make a mess and fill your belly. It's all you can eat, including jambalaya and drink.

Organized by bartenders, chefs and friends of Reiss Co. (parent company of The Brig, Salt Air, Sunny Spot, A-Frame), a portion of the proceeds goes to Venice Community Housing, a charitable organization that helps ow-income people achieve economic and personal stability through non-profit affordable housing, education, and a comprehensive network of supportive services.

Visit The Cook's Garden on Abbot Kinney every Sunday for The Artisanal Market. In addition to fine culinary creations made locally, there will be free garden activities for the kiddies, prize drawings and chickens.

Don your derby hat and watch the big race at Willie Jane's viewing party this Saturday from 2:30 to 7 p.m. Mint juleps and derby coolers are $6 all day long. Plus, there will be contests for best dandy outfit and best hat.
