Barbershop Ristorante Pops Up At The Anchor Venice
Chef Walter el Nagar returns with the ninth installment of his Barbershop Ristorante pop-up at The Anchor Venice on Main Street.
His signature style of modern Italian cuisine references rustic flavors of his childhood in Milan and summers of seaside dining along the coast, while also capturing the imaginative presentation picked up from his time working as an art curator.
The Mad Chef, a moniker he's given himself on social media, is a master of molecular gastronomy, combining unlikely flavors in fascinating presentations. His pop-up at Flake over Valentine's Day weekend featured dishes such as the sea urchin bon bon made with white chocolate and raspberries. It's a daring experience, but always grounded by the casual ambience of a neighborhood eatery and the intimacy of a small dining room.
His latest prix fixe menu will feature a four-course dinner for $65 with optional wine pairing for $35. Highlights include a jicamargarita and fermented Caesar salad to start, "Coratella Aristocratica" with lamb, liver, artichokes and mint, and for dessert? How about bell peppers and strawberries with ricotta? Wine and beer will also be available for purchase.
The reinvention of Barbershop is not unlike a new gallery opening—new works from a familiar artist in a fresh environment—and, for a very limited run. Dinner service will be two nights only: Monday, September 14th and then again on Monday, September 21st, with seatings starting at 6:30 p.m.
Reservations can be made through Reserve app. If you're new to the app, you can get $25 off your dinner too. Use the promo code barbershop25 while making your reservation.
