Hold On For The Ride! CicLAvia Heads To Venice

Come Sunday, August 9, CicLAvia will return to the Westside and transform segments of major thoroughfares including Washington and Venice Boulevards into one long bike path from Downtown Culver City to Venice Beach. The last time CicLAvia mapped Venice was in 2013's "To The Sea" event, where more than 150,000 participants cycled, skated and actually went walking in L.A., from the Boardwalk to City Hall in DTLA.

The "Culver City Meets Venice" car free, free-for-all will last from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and moves in either direction. So you could start in Venice and bike east to the Mar Vista Farmers' Market, a stop on the route, and check out the annual country fair and pie baking contest, which also takes place that morning. This is a leisurely cruise, not a race. It's a chance to see the city from a new perspective and do something zany with your neighbors.

As for the traffic impact from street closures in and around the area, you know what they say. If you can't beat 'em, you might as well get the tubes in your tires replaced and plan some pitstops for Sunday bunch.
