Lincoln Blvd. Boutiques To Host Holiday Block Party
Shops along Venice's up-and-coming retail stretch of Lincoln Blvd. are throwing a neighborhood block party on Saturday to get the party started on this 2016 holiday season. Music, libations, and of course, sales and shopping perks, will be part of the festivities. Here's a look at what's in store for the event, which runs from 4 to 7 p.m.
LCD womenswear boutique, and its next-door home decor and garden gallery Merchant Modern, will host a joint affair with music from local artist Andrea Shapiro, also known as DJ Big Drop, with spirited drinks courtesy of Simons—which recently opened its second location on Lincoln—and Juice Served Here.
"With this first event, I hope we get to celebrate our neighbors, neighborhood and hopefully encourage people to walk the block and show their friends our unique community before we head into the holiday season," says LCD's Siew Longhorn.
Merchant Modern will be doing a special "Merchant Market" loaded with Mid-century bohemian treasures—think macrame hangers, Gainey pots, and globe pendants—as well as a trunk show with Margot Michon, a Venice jewelry designer who will be setting out pieces from her latest collection.
Flynn Skye will host a meet and greet with its clothing designer Amber Farr and offer a sneak peek at its buy-one-get-another-50-percent-off sale happening next weekend on Small Business Saturday.
Across the way, California-loving apparel and home goods shop The Golden State will light up its 8-foot Maurice Connolly "moon" sculpture at 6pm. Inside the knotted-and-blessed world of Late Sunday Afternoon, a collection of vintage collectibles, books and signature handmade scarves, they'll have a tintype photography pop-up for those on the hunt for something unique, and Bassike, the Aussie brand known for beach-ready basics, will have plenty of merch on sale and bubbly as you peruse it.
L.A.-made-dresses shop Christy Dawn will be serving coffee from Canyon Coffee—there's a local couple behind that too—and then sending shoppers home with a complimentary box of chocolates.
For kids "0 to 99" stop into Huzzah! toy shop. They will be giving away balloons and treats for little ones from 3 to 7 p.m.
