Sometimes though, love is so big and the combined energy and talent is so great, that the rest of the world gets to share in that magic too. Here are a few of the many, many local couples who are sharing their love in beautiful and inspiring ways. Happy Valentine's Day!

The Love Story ... (There's this super adorable video too)
(Told by Jacob) We met dancing. I was a street performer in Venice Beach and she was a dancer at a competition studio where I got a scholarship and met her. We became semi finalists in Paula Abdul's CBS show "Live to Dance" and that was when we started dating. We then placed best performing artist of the year by RAW artists together and that was around the time she went to school at Uarts in Philly where we were in a long distance relationship for three years. During that time, we started a company Jacob Jonas The Company and have been working together since dancing in love!

How their personalities complement one another ...
I am a very ambitious and creative guy who is always thinking in the future while Jill is very organized, intelligent, self motivated, and realistic. We work incredibly well professionally and creatively and that influenced our personal relationship. She is always ready for whatever I throw at her and we have grown together and encouraged each other to be the best we can be.

Together they've created the movement #CamerasandDancers ...
Jacob and Jill stage events on the beach, Downtown, at museums ... really, any location that inspires them, and invite local photographers and Instagrammers to capture the experience in an improvisational collaboration. Look up #CamerasandDancers on IG and you'll see what we mean.

The Love Story
(Told by Vicki) We met in 1994. We worked together at Zenzero Restaurant in Santa Monica and then he left and we started dating.

How their talents and personalities complement each other ...
We both know what the other likes to do and is better suited for and it just works. We are both pretty easygoing and know in this business we all need as much help as we can get. We have pretty much worked together since we have known each other. Usually I cook, he cleans. Sometimes one of us preps and the other cooks.

For decades, the Weir-Quitons (they share a hyphenation of their last names) have worked at their Venice art studio on Sunset Ave -- Gregory, a fashion illustrator and designer, and Pamela, one of the few celebrated female wood sculptors of the mid-century studio craft movement. They now offer illustration and woodworking classes at the studio and feature local art for sale in their ArtiStore.

Their Love Story
(Told by Logan) Lindsey and I met through our work. She was a chiropractor for athletes and celebrities and I met her in her office. She's since created a massive network of empowered women with BIRTHFIT with affiliates all over the world and a thorough online resource for pregnancy.

I own DEUCE Gym where we also get to work together. We live just doors down from the gym and love to soak up our Venice experience.

The Love Story
(Told by Amy) We met at a birthday party on Abbot Kinney summer of 2012. We ended up talking all night and at one point, I quoted something from Alan Watts and he jumped from his seat and said, "I’ve never wanted to kiss a girl so badly. It’s definitely my favorite first kiss. We lost touch for a short time and reunited October of 2014. He emailed me and said, "There was something in the stars that kept us in orbit." He always had a way with words…

(DJ's version) The love story really started when I went to see her in Hawaii. Some time had passed, we both grew up and wanted the same things. She kept saying we were just friends but it just felt right. I took her to Malibu winery for her 30th birthday and told her whatever she needed me to be, I’d be that… I wanted a partner in crime and I wanted it to be her. That’s when MVAD was born.

Together they created and run Mar Vista Art Department ...
(Told by Amy) I run the retail part of MVAD as well as the workshops and events with the help of [friend/co-worker] Claire. DJ’s the head honcho. He brings in projects such as [Can Love]. Sometimes he’s working on four or five projects at once so having a good support team is really important. He looks to me to execute our ideas ... we can have ideas all day long, but if they’re not being turned into reality, then whats the point? I’m really excited for his Art Of Freelance seminar, he’s going to speak about being a working artist which I find fascinating.

We’ve done a lot with MVAD in the 8 months its been open and I think we’re both excited to see where it goes from here. The feedback from our friends and community is what keeps us excited. They’re constantly telling us that they’re happy we exist.

Check out upcoming workshops at MVAD here and share it with someone you love.
