What's not to love about more taco options in Venice? Cali-Mex eatery Taco Love is nearing completion in the Lincoln Plaza strip mall at Lincoln and Vernon and will be serving up a straight-forward menu of tacos, burritos as well as a few staples we're oddly lacking around here including carne asada fries and micheladas.
According to the Taco Love in West Hollywood, which opened about a year ago with the intention of bringing more San Diego-style Mexican eats to LA, the Venice locale is due to open in early September. A peek into the window revealed that all kitchen equipment and seating is ready to go. They're on to finishing touches, and we're eagerly waiting.
Lincoln Plaza has seen quite a bit of turnover in recent months with businesses geared toward Venice's busy, health-conscious locals. Locali, a healthy deli and environmentally conscious quickie mart, which describes itself as the love child of 7-Eleven and Whole Foods, opened in March. It took the place of Del's Lemonade. And two months ago, the eco-friendly/ people-friendly Selective Cleaners also took up residence in the shopping center. (FYI, they do denim alterations with original hem for only $10.) It replaced Lincoln Tobacco and then Shane's, a sandwich shop that never really opened for business. Taco Love replaces the former Maki Yaki.
Speaking of tacos to love, the nearby Benny's Tacos located a block north of Lincoln Plaza, recently purchased by Oscar Hermosillo of Oscar's Cerveteca and Venice Beach Wines, is also nearing its transformation. Hermosillo saved Benny's from becoming the next Fatburger and is turning it into a traditional roadhouse-style Cali-Mex eatery.
No such thing as too many tacos. Bring it on.
