Happy weekend, Venice. With so many great events keeping us entertained and distracted, Halloween's quickly creeping up on the sly. If you're still weighing party options for Halloween night, keep an eye on our events section as we post more haunted happenings. One in particular we're especially excited about is the Venice Masquerade Haunted Halloween Ball. With the annual Venice Haunted House a no-go this year (boo), this looks like the place to be. Did we mention it's in that old church on Rose Ave? Eeek. Start planning your costumes now.

For whatever reason, the theme this weekend seems to be centered around gorgeous design and great deals. If these are topics of interest to you, then here are a few events not to be missed.

Free Movie & Concert

See Wes Anderson's highly stylized dramatic comedy The Grand Budapest Hotel free tonight at the Santa Monica Pier. Usually these Friday night movies start with DJ jams, but tonight, indie-pop band Saint Motel (huge Anderson fans too) are playing a free concert starting at 6:45 p.m. Movie starts at 8 p.m.

Design Events

The WestEdge Design Fair is back this weekend for a second go at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. If you swoon for modern design, prepare yourself (and perhaps your budget) for more than 150 exhibitors showcasing the latest in interior design, lighting, kitchen, bath and outdoor furnishings.

Here in Venice, Leftover Luxuries debuted its first L.A. pop-up on Lincoln (right next door to where Obama made his presidential pop-in last week). Buy or consign at this great selection of interior furnishings and designer accessories. It's here through December, maybe longer.

Solé Bicycles, the team behind some of the most beautifully-designed fixies in town, will also be celebrating the opening of their Venice flagship on Main Street with music and libations.

Happy Hour! The Anchor Venice, the charming beer/ wine/ oysters/ panna cotta s'mores bar on Main Street just announced its happy hour menu. Enjoy $5 draught beers, $3 pork tenderloin or seared skirt steak sliders starting Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. Over the weekend, bottomless mimosas, soju bloody marys, and micheladas are $10 with entrees. Weekday happy hour (Tuesday-Friday) 3-6pm. Weekend happy hour (Saturday-Sunday) 2:30-4:30pm.
