Weekend Events: Holiday Boat Parades, Abbot Kinney Stroll, Surf-A-Thon and More

The 34th annual Holiday Boat Parade lights up he Venice Canals on Sunday. 

The Venice sign has been lit in red and green, and the seasonal festivities continue with another full weekend of local holiday traditions. 

// Venice Surf-A-Thon
Coinciding with the 22nd annual Venice Surf-A-Thon Saturday morning at the breakwater is mother nature's gift of big waves. Scattered showers Thursday and Friday, and perhaps more rain due Sunday night, are part of a storm system generating a large northwest swell moving into our beaches. A high surf advisory is in effect through the weekend. Competitions start with groms at 7 a.m. Registration at the beach is $25. More info here. 

// SANTA Monica Holiday Pub Crawl
The 7th Annual SANTA Monica Pub Crawl returns Saturday evening with more than 30 local bars and restaurants participating in the annual fundraiser benefitting the Westside Food Bank. The crawl features four routes including Wilshire Blvd., Main Street, The Pier and Third Street Promenade, all offering crawlers with wristbands food and drink specials such as $3 beers, $5 wells and $5 shots as part of the festivities. Tickets are $12 each.

// Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade
Rain or shine, the show will go on at the 53rd annual MdR Holiday Boat Parade Saturday at 5 p.m. with fireworks and a winter wonderland at Burton Chace Park.

// Abbot Kinney Holiday Stroll
Holiday carolers, elves and Santa himself will be at the annual Abbot Kinney Holiday Stroll on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shops along the boulevard will feature special deals and in-store events, and there will be plenty of fun activities for kids too.

// Venice Canals Holiday Boat Parade
Gondolas, row boats, kayaks and other mini vessels will be decked out in twinkly lights for the 34th annual Venice Canals Holiday Boat Parade Sunday starting at 4 p.m.

// Venice Electric Light Parade - Ride #6
If you haven't heard of the Venice Electric Light Parade, check out this video here. If you'd like to join the fun, Ride #6 is happening this Sunday, December 13 at 5:30 p.m., starting at Windward Plaza. They'll be collecting toys for the Great Venice Toy Drive too, so everyone's encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift for donation.
