Tessellate Presents Tim Roller at Wallflower Venice

Wallflower Venice, a relative newcomer to the Rose Ave. dining scene, and one of the best spots in town for a modern twist on Southeast Asian flavors (and cocktails), recently added brunch to its repertoire. The menu moves from American staples like egg sandwiches and biscuits with jam to savory dishes including Chinese barbecue pork belly and chicken satay.

There's also a rotating selection of artwork on display in the rustic-modern dining room interiors designed by Dustin Miles (Venice Beach Wines). And starting Sunday, July 31, Tim Roller's work will be on display, mixed-media pieces that utilize a variety of materials, from wood and glass tile, to crystals and rope. The show is presented by Tessellate, which creates multi-sensory experiences of music and art. To commence Roller's month-long residency, Wallflower Venice is hosting a special brunch with what they've described as dreamy daytime musical vibes from Ken Satellite.

Other Venice Film Festival

The 11th annual Other Venice Film Festival premieres October 10th with three celebratory days of independent shorts, features and music videos.

Venice has always been an epicenter for LA artists and filmmakers who continue to pave the way toward expanding the language of underground, alternative cinema. The Other Venice Film Festival bridges the community of Venice and that of greater Los Angeles together in a competitive, fun-filled weekend of movies and mayhem.

The Other Venice Film festival is a non-profit organization dedicated to the discovery and development of independent artists and audiences. Through its programs, the OVFF seeks to discover, support, and inspire independent film and theatre artists from Venice and around the world, and to introduce audiences to their new work.

Music Art Poetry // It Came From Venice

RETURN of IT CAME FROM VENICE art show - March 1-15, 2014
at Sponto Gallery, 9 Dudley Ave, Venice CA 90291, 310-306-7330,
free admission Laughtears.com

Opening reception: Sat., March 1 from 6-10pm

Poetry and Dance Party: Sat., March 8, poetry ~ 6-7:30pm, dance ~ 7:30-10pm
DJ Reverend Dan

Closing bash: Sat., March 15 ~ 6-10pm

Over the last two decades, three group art shows entitled, “It Came From Venice” were held at Sponto Gallery.  The fourth installation will include added events. A variety of stellar Venice musicians will provide entertainment for both the opening and closing parties.

Participants in the Poetry Reading on March 8 who read their original or non-original poem(s) (5 minute limit), will qualify to be entered into a raffle for a $50 prize. Recitations of poetry works by known Venice West Café and Venice poets are encouraged.

The mélange of local Venice artists, painters, photographers, musicians and poets will summon and celebrate the spontaneous and Pronto spirit that resounds on Dudley Avenue.

In the tradition of the Venice West Cafe (the legendary Beat hang-out at 7 Dudley Ave, aka Sponto Gallery from 1984-2008), the Venice underground celebrates the liberation of creativity. The 9 Dudley location has been christened “Sponto Gallery” for this 2 week celebration.
